Description
The Holy Church of Agia Kyriaki is the oldest church in the town of Pyrgos. In addition to its history, the church is impressive for its architecture, where even today it retains its Gothic style characteristics and inside there are hagiographies by the well-known Zakynthian Tamvakis.
While it generally follows the architectural type common to the region of the single-aisled basilica with two symmetrical spires on the facade, what attracts attention are the Gothic tracery arches in the windows, belfries and pews, which contrast with the stunning wood-carved chancel. Since 1982, the temple has been characterized as a "work of art in need of special state protection".
