The Principality of Achaea was a very important Frankish state, with Andravida as its capital. Its principal port was Glarentza, located west of modern-day Kyllini, and its most important castle was Chlemoutsi or Clermont, further south.
Visitors today can tour Chlemoutsi Castle and the castle’s museum, and admire Glarentza with the famous Lighthouse. In the area, some of the most important churches are still preserved, such as Paliopanagia Manolada, Agia Sofia of Andravida and the Monastery of Vlacherna.
