The Ephorate of Antiquities of Ilia, as a regional Department of the Ministry of Culture responsible for archaeological sites, monuments and museums belonging to the public, participated with a separate Sub-Project in the project of Creating an integrated information system for the promotion of cultural and touristic resources/monuments and routes in the wider area of the Axis, Katakolo - Ancient Olympia.
In the context of Sub-project 2, Ephorate of Antiquities of Ilia participated in the work of creating an online platform for the presentation and promotion of the cultural heritage of the area in the following ways:
- participated in the joint selection of the appropriate points of archaeological interest of the Regional Unit of Ilia that are presented to the users of the platform and potential visitors to the area. Ephorate’s notes, provided technical instructions so that the writing style of the platform entries is as uniform and homogeneous as possible,
- provided the necessary facilities to the contractor of the project for taking photos and making videos in the areas of its responsibility (archaeological sites, monuments and museums). Also the staff working in the aforementioned areas regulated the flow of visitors and guided the crew to achieve the best result,
- with its existing scientific staff, including an archaeologist who was hired exclusively for the needs of the Project, proceeded to write scientifically documented and accurate texts about the monuments, archaeological sites and museums under its responsibility in Ilia, after studying the relevant literature,
- made suggestions for improvement and more efficient operation of the platform
