Olympia Marathon 2023
Registrations have begun for the 7th Olympia Marathon organized by the Olympia Marathon association on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26, 2023, in co-organization with the Region of Western Greece and the sports association of Korivos Amaliadas.
The organization is under the auspices and support of the Municipalities of Ilida, Pyrgos and Ancient Olympia.
The program includes the following matches:
- Marathon (Amaliada – Ancient Olympia) - Sunday, March 26 at 8:30 am.
- Half marathon (Pyrgos – Ancient Olympia) - Sunday, March 26 at 8:30 am.
- Ancient Elis Road Race 12.6 km. (Ancient Elis – Amaliada) - Saturday, March 25 at 5:00 p.m.
- Pyrgos Road Race 5km. (Tower) - Sunday, March 26 at 09:00 am.
- 2km race Amaliada - Saturday, March 25 at 5:15 p.m.
- 2km race Ancient Olympia - Sunday 26 March at 09:00 am
- Tower Night Run - Saturday, March 25 at 8:00 p.m.
The goal of the event is to give the opportunity to runners from our country, but also from abroad, to compete in the marathon distance in the place where the Olympic Ideals were born, connecting two highest values of Greek Culture, those of the Olympic Spirit and the Marathon.
In addition, the race, since its first organization, has been dedicated to the first marathon runner in history, Charilaos Vasilakos, who was also the second winner in the 1st Olympic Games in 1896 in Athens.
At the same time, cultural and other events will be developed around the organization with the aim of the participation of the local community of the prefecture of Ilia and its promotion and promotion at all levels.
