In the mountains of the municipality of Ancient Olympia, on the outskirts of Erymanthos, is the Armarkiano cave at an altitude of 1065 meters. Most of the cave entrance is surrounded by a stone wall, leaving a narrow passage to the right. In the depth of the cave, one can see crystalline stalagmites which are estimated to have taken many thousands of years to form.
According to tradition, it is rumored that the Armarkiano cave was used as a place of worship during pre-Christian times, as well as that there was a monastery inside it during early Christian times.
On foot one can reach relatively easily through the community of Agia Kyriaki, following the path after the chapel of Agia Paraskevi.
