Church of Agios Athanasios in Pyrgos

The magnificent design of the Church of Agios Athanasios is due to the great Saxon architect Ernesto Ziller, who has given in the city of Pyrgos some of its most important buildings. The plans were drawn up over a hundred years before today. The Church of Agios Athanasios is located on the Eastern side of the city of Pyrgos. It is built on a hill, between the old craft center of the city "Halkiatika" and the shopping center "Stavropazaro" near the Municipal Market and today's New Museum. It is estimated that the Temple was probably built together with the settlement of Pyrgos, between the 15th and 16th centuries.
