Description
At a short distance to the east of the ancient stadium of Olympia, at the entrance of the facilities of the International Olympic Academy, have been discovered the remains of the sanctuary of the goddess Demeter Chamyne. Her cult was associated with vegetation and reproduction. The visitor can today see on the northern slope of the stadium the remains of the altar where the priestess of the goddess was seated and watched the Olympic Games, the only woman who had been given this privilege.
