Crossing the forest with the eucalyptus trees and the dense vegetation, very close to the Ionian coasts, we find the facilities of the thermal springs and baths in the site "Litzi" (Lintzi) of Kyllini and next to them the remains of the Roman baths, which, as in antiquity, as well as today, attract many visitors.
The Roman baths are very easily recognized because they are built of baked bricks and reinforced mortar, a typical construction method of this period. The complex consisted of cold and hot bath areas as well as waiting and preparation areas for the bathers. There are also preserved the hypocausts, a type of underfloor system through which air was distributed to the walls and floors of hot rooms or sweat rooms.
The beneficial and salutary properties of the water that emanates from the springs of Litzi, are due to the sulfur compounds contained in the water and help to fight many diseases, mainly those related to the respiratory system, the skin, arthritis, the digestive system, etc. In addition, the high content of “hydrogen sulfide” in the spring water confers to it both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory action.
Many visitors take the opportunity to take free "mud baths", i.e. to cover their body with the healing mud, leaving it to act for several minutes, and then they are cleansed with the water with the healing properties that gushes out from the same place.
The beautiful but abandoned stone-built theater of the modern era, which has been built in an idyllic location and with the Chlemoutsi Castle in the background, is located at a short distance from the baths and rewards those who visit it.
The modern hydrotherapy center that is located at a short distance from the remains of the Roman bath and on the provincial road that leads to Arkoudi, operates during the summer months under the responsibility of the company "Loutra Kyllini SA" of the Grecotel Group, offering the possibility of Positherapy, Nasal Wash, Individual and Group Inhalation, Hydrotherapy and Mud Therapy.
